ABOUT OUR CURRICULUM
Your child’s TK classroom emphasizes experiential learning through rotating centers, story telling, interactive games, and outdoor adventures that are thoughtfully integrated with our curriculum focus to create a cohesive and engaging education experience.
Phonics
Our reading program is designed to give students a solid foundation in phonemic awareness, letter and sounds and letter formation. Students will learn the appropriate articulation of letter sounds focusing on beginning sounds in words. Students will progress through the alphabet working their way through basic blends and decoding of simple words to more complex depending on individual student needs. This program is designed to meet the needs of all diverse learners to provide a 1:1 type of learning experience.
Reading Comprehension
Students will listen to a variety of literature by learning different reading comprehension strategies which include: retelling, story sequencing, beginning, middle and end of story, identifying main characters, as well as setting and events. Our students will also practice inferencing skills by drawing conclusions or making guesses about what’s not stated in the text, by combining textual clues with the reader’s background knowledge and experience.
Math
Our Math program is designed to address the TK standards by introducing the early math concepts, including counting recognizing numbers, and understanding one-to-one correspondence in a multi sensory approach.
Social Emotional Development
Our TK program prioritizes developing social and self-regulation skills, helping children learn to cooperate, manage emotions, and adjust to new situations and transitions. We will be using the curriculum of Zones of Regulation which helps children organize their feelings, states of alertness and energy levels by managing big emotions which is often very challenging for young learners.
